Can you bring razors in hand luggage?

Travelling is back on the map again after some not so travel-friendly years, and humans all over the world are excited to enjoy a sought after holiday. But let's be honest - we’re all a bit rusty and a teeny tiny bit lost about how it all works. For instance, is the 11 AM beer still a thing? Is there still endless queuing for everything? And are you allowed to bring a razor in your hand luggage when you’re on your way to your destination of choice? Well, no need to worry because we’ll give you all the info you need, right here (at least on the razor part, that is).

So, can you take a razor on a plane?

It’s common sense to not bring any sharp, explosive or in any other way dangerous objects in your hand luggage on-board a plane (or we’d so hope at least). But, this might leave you wondering if you can bring your little shave pal in your carry-on – especially if you’re travelling for just a few days and don’t want any checked bags. You might feel a little bit worried that you have to throw your razor away while walking through security. No need to worry- we’ve got some good news. You’re actually allowed to bring your razor in your hand luggage *sigh of relief*, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind if you feel like bringing it.

3 things to keep in mind when bringing a razor on a plane

1. Some are allowed, others are not

Razors can be a little bit tricky, because whether you’re allowed to bring your razor or not depends on what kind of razor it is. You’re allowed to bring cartridge razors, such as our Estrid one :) These are the kind where the cartridge can be detached from the handle, but the blades are anchored in the cartridge. Disposable razors are also okay to bring, while safety razors and straight razors are a big no-no as you can detach the blade.

2. Keep it snuggly and safe

Make sure that the blades are covered when you pack your razor. This is both for your razor's sake (to keep it sharp) and also for yours, so it doesn’t rumble around in your bag. We don’t want you to accidentally cut yourself when you’re reaching into it for a snack, a book or whatever you store in there. An easy way to keep your razor real snuggly and safe on its trip is by keeping it in our matching razor case.

3. Show it off

Keep your razor visible and easily accessible in a transparent plastic bag in your carry-on. In that case, you can conveniently show your little shave pal without any troubles if someone would like to peek through your bag at security :)

If you still feel a bit insecure about whether you’re allowed to bring your razor or not, remember that you can always double check the rules with your airline.
